Innovation Lab Design
Harrisburg University, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Harrisburg University partnered with local design-build firm Mowery Construction to transform a former Hallmark store near the state capitol into an active learning lab and technology suite. Skillsets utilized: concepting, modeling, rendering, drafting, and environmental graphics.

Program & Objective
The owner challenged us to create an open floor plan with spaces for small-group activities, study carrels, a flex space, and café.

Concept & Design
Drawing on years of personal experience using coworking spaces, I proposed an open floor plan and a variety of spaces designed to facilitate collaboration and research.
A glass storefront encourages curiosity of passers-by and connection with the Strawberry Square atrium environment and community.

Environmental Graphics
Bold colors, wall graphics, and signage energize the interior while expressing the CIE brand and inspiring creative thinking.

Partnership & Collaboration
Mowery coordinated and performed demolition of store displays, construction of angular partitions, floor refinishing, and installation of enhanced data and communication systems to support the new tech environment.
